Question

Question

create shortcut to document

asked on October 23, 2019 Show version history

I want to create a shortcut in my windows folder to a document within Laserfiche.  I want it as a shortcut where it opens the Laserfiche file and just not another copy of the document in the windows folder.

First I found this https://www.laserfiche.com/support/webhelp/Laserfiche/9.2/en-US/UserGuide/Laserfiche_Client.htm#PrintingExporting/Shortcuts_to_Info_in_LF.htm and tried CTRL

+Shift but when I place my cursor in the windows folder that I want my shortcut it turns into a red circle with a line through it.

I then found https://www.laserfiche.com/support/webhelp/Laserfiche/10/en-US/userguide/#../Subsystems/client_wa/Content/PrintingExporting/Shortcuts_to_Info_in_LF.htm%3FTocPath%3DLaserfiche%2520Windows%2520and%2520Web%2520Client%7CPrinting%2520and%2520Exporting%7CExporting%2520From%2520Laserfiche%7C_____5 and tried CTRL + ALT and it just makes a copy of the Laserfiche document in the windows folder.

I am on Laserfiche 10.2.  Is there something that I am missing, or permission within my user in order to make this work.

This issue is fixed in Laserfiche 10.3.1 and higher. Ctrl+Alt+drag will create a shortcut. Bug reference ID 42943.

What version of Windows are you running?

Microsoft made some changes in Windows that negatively affected the original key combination for creating desktop shortcuts. These changes made it so CTRL + SHIFT + click/drag failed.

The key combination was changed to CTRL + ALT to get it working again, however I don't believe the change was made until one of the 10.3 updates, so this will not work in 10.2.

I'm running Windows 10 64bit.  Do you know if there is any documentation stating this works in 10.3 or above to show to IT?
