Question

Is traffic over port 5055 encrypted?

asked on October 18, 2019

Hi,

I understand that port 5055 is used as the license notification port with LFDS. What data exactly is sent via this method and is it, or can it be encrypted?

Thanks,

NIgel.

Hi Nigel,

The information sent over this port consists of basic notifications to Laserfiche Server that something has changed in LFDS and it should grab an updated license. These notifications will only be sent if you have selected "Subscribe to receive updates from Directory Server" for your LFS instance in LFDS. Considering the information consists of notifications like "APPMODIFIED" and "USERLISTCHANGED", there will be no sensitive information in need of encryption.
