Can you detail what kind of integration you are looking for?

The customer said he wants to be able to go into Computerease through Laserfiche and retrieve invoices to be stored into the repository.  He would like to do this without having to open the invoices in Computerease.

Some questions to answer:

  • Does ComputerEase store invoices as a rendered report, or does it re-render each time the invoice is viewed or printed?
  • Are the invoice reports able to be run outside of ComputerEase?
  • Is there a way to have ComputerEase automatically export an invoice whenever one is generated?
  • Does ComputerEase have any external APIs that allow reports to be retrieved programmatically?
  • Does ComputerEase have the ability to connect directly to the database, or otherwise access data through an API?

Laserfiche has many tools that can be used to retrieve documents from other systems, provided those systems are open enough to allow it. Worst case, at the time that invoices are generated, you could use Snapshot to store the invoice in Laserfiche. Then, depending on the database access, you can populate metadata from there.

I found this digging on the ComputerEase website.

We can integrate.

ODBC

For some companies, ComputerEase Construction Management Software meets all their needs. Other companies, however, may want to integrate some of the data contained in ComputerEase with other applications.

In addition to the standard importing and exporting features built into the system, the ComputerEase database is fully ODBC compliant, which means that you can easily integrate ComputerEase with programs like Word, Excel, Access, and Lotus. Every time new information is posted in ComputerEase, the reports that were created in other applications are automatically updated.

That's definitely a good start. However, if your client is expecting to see a rendered copy of the invoice, you'll have to figure out how to do that. If it's possible for the application to export invoices to a known location, you can use Import Agent, or just drag and drop them into the client. Then you can pull the metadata out of the database using Workflow.
