Attach Email to Check Request Form

asked on October 10, 2019

We have an internal check request form which requires supporting documentation. The majority of the time that documentation is an email from someone outside of the organization. For auditing purposes, we need to attach the email to the request.  I am not seeing how we can even use the upload function to copy and paste the information from the email into the field (it says there are illegal characters, presumably from the @ sign in the email address, which we would need to show).  Are there any options here?

Thank you!!

Have you tried just using a file upload to attach the email?

If you drag an email from Outlook into a File Upload field a Laserfiche Form, it will upload as a .msg file.

That worked!  From outlook I was able to drag and drop the entire email message into the upload. Thank you!!!

If they are insistent on copying and pasting the email contents, you could use JavaScript to change the illegal characters to something like (_AT_).

Have you tried saving the emails to the repository and then attaching them through a workflow?

I haven't, although in theory just saving them to the repository might be sufficient. There was just push back from having a two step process. There is a bit of a "perception of difficulty" I am navigating. But we may have to consider that option if there is no way to attach in the form.

Thank you for your response!
