Deploying Laserfiche on Azure with HA

asked on September 19, 2019

Can anyone with experience deploying Laserfiche onto Azure offer some insight on how to achieve high availability, specifically with with Laserfiche server and Workflow? We have been advised that WSFC Cluster is not available on Azure as you cannot have a single quorum disk (shared storage) presented to two different VMs, as per the consideration pointed out in the Laserfiche failover clustering whitepaper. Can we have two instances of VMs with Laserfiche server and Workflow in the same availability set in order to achieve HA? As Microsoft offers 99.95% SLA for this setup. If this is possible, how would we make sure the services relating to Laserfiche failover to the second instance in an event of a failure, and also how would we make sure the repository is synchronized between the two?

Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks.

I've seen some folks who've been able to get clustering working using Storage Spaces Direct. However, you might be better off going down the route of using native Azure tools. Azure SQL supports high availability natively. The same goes for the various Azure Storage options. Azure Load Balancer has some failover options that might also help.

Thanks for the advice, but we need HA specifically for the Laserfiche Server and Workflow. Could you advise if HA would be supported for Laserfiche Server and Workflow using the Azure Load Balancer? That is both nodes would be on an active-active configuration mounting the same repository with the load balance r handling the connection to the endpoint. Thanks.
