Question

Scanning not responding after scanning, OCRing, and having the text pane open.

asked on September 13, 2019

I have ran into an issue with two different clients where having the Laserfiche Scanning text pane open has caused LF Scanning to not respond after the scan is complete. This causes me to have to kill LF Scanning from the task manager. When scanning in irregular documents (Excel spread sheets, flyers, ect) and running OCR on the document, the documents all scan and save correctly as long as the text pane is not open. I can flip through the thumbnails, look at the metadata and store to LF with no issue. Opening the generated text within the LF client properly displays the text from the images.

The issue comes in when opening the text pane in LF Scanning. After scanning the documents, the first image shows in the image pane and its text shows correctly in the text pane. The thumbnails also show up for the other documents in the scan, however, clicking on any part of the Scanning interface causes Scanning to go non-responsive and must be closed via the task manager. Before clicking, the scan looks to have completed successfully, as in the panes all have the correct data, thumbnails, images and text.

I was curious if anyone else had ever ran into any similar issues with the Scanning text pane?

I have run into similar issues. Does it happen with all users, or just one? If it's just one, try clearing out the user's attributes and try again.
