iPhone notifications for the Laserfiche App

asked on September 12, 2019

On my iPhone I went to settings > notifications and turned on banner alerts etc for the Laserfiche App. But it doesn't do anything when I receive a forms task and I am logged into the app with it running in the background.

It seems there is some documentation that says the notification service must be accessible from the Laserfiche server over port 8181. Is this true?

It is difficult to search answers and support on this subject because it seems all the discussions/articles are around some other type of Notifications besides iPhone / Andriod notifications.

Hi Chad, sorry for the delayed response. Guess i forgot to hit the "reply" button last time.

There were two possible causes to my knowledge. One is the certification was outdated, which was resolved over a month ago; the other one is if your network has switched to TLS1.2 prior to our upcoming release, the notification would also encounter issues.

If you don't think your case falls under the second bucket, please go ahead open a case so that we can investigate further. Thank you!

Oh my network is Verizon, is that the problem? Did they switch to TLS1.2? I thought TLS was an encryption layer protocol for wrapping web data, and networks were routers of that data, but never get involved with the specifics of the data.

For example I can send data with no encryption, SSL encryption, or TLS encryption and Verizon, being a network that acts like a parcel service, doesn't care what is in my package, they just want to know the destination and the port to drop it off at.

Hi Chad, there could be several potential causes. Can you please open a ticket with Support to investigate further?

Ok I just wanted to know if there was anything on our end that needed to be checked before I go to them. Like any server side configurations that allow it to function.
