Office Integration causes users to be unable to save to a network drive over VPN

asked on September 12, 2019

We have a client who has come across an unusual error.  When their users VPN into the system, open a word document, and try to save it to a network drive, they are unable to do so if the Laserfiche Office ad-in is enabled.  They receive the error message:

"There has been a network or file permission error.  The network connection may be lost"

Disabling the Laserfiche ad-in solves the issue.

They aren't opening the file from laserfiche, saving to laserfiche, or interacting with the Laserfiche ad-in at all, really, but simply having it enabled causes this issue.  Any ideas of what might be causing this?

Hi Linnea,

Could you please provide the versions for Word and the Laserfiche Office Integration?

You can find the latter here:

Does the issue affect only Word or does it also impact other Office products such as Excel?

I would also check the Windows -> Application event log to see if there are any error messages with additional detail.

Cheers,

Sam

Hi Sam!

The error occurs both in 2013 and 2016 versions of Word.  The  Laserfiche office integration is version 10.4.0.50, and they are running a 10.4.1 for the server.  The same error is occurring in other office products as well.

There are no error messages in the event log, but there is a Microsoft office 15 Alert logged:

There has been a network or file permission error. The network connection may be lost.
