Feature Request: Copy a Link From Hard Client

posted on September 10, 2019

I know we can "email" a link; however, if you already have an email open, I don't want to have to create a new email to generate a link to a document in the hard client.

Obviously the webclient has a feature to copy a link, but many of our users are still using the hard client (I know - I'm working on them! ;) )

Thanks,

Robyn

Hi Robyn,

Which link are you looking to copy? Although the Web Client has the option to generate a URL link when sending emails, the Windows client "links" are actually LFE file attachments.

Hi Jason, yes, it would be the ability to "copy" LFE file attachments.

You can always use CTRL+ALT to drag the file onto the desktop and create an LFE (this was changed in 10.3.1 because CTRL+SHIFT no longer worked in Win 10).

From there, you can drag it or copy and paste it into emails, but because it is a file and not just text like a URL I believe it would need to be somewhere on the PC.

You can copy and paste documents from Laserfiche into emails, so it seems possible, but... I wouldn't expect too many "new" features for the desktop client since it seems to be inching closer and closer to legacy these days lol.
