Install SSTS on Forms Server

posted on September 4, 2019

I followed the directions to setup SSTS on the forms server, but there is no SSTS application showing up in IIS.

The last step says to set the Directory Server STS URL to point to the LFDSSTS hosted in the DMZ.
For one I am not on a DMZ, I am just on a forms server.
For 2. shouldn't I see an LFDSSTS site in IIS? When does this site get installed?

The instructions just have me running a bunch of utilities in random directories.

You are probably doing more work than what you need. If you are configuring an internal Forms server there is probably no need to setup an STS instance on the Forms server itself as it should be able utilize the STS instance that is installed on the LFDS server.

When a user tries to visit the /Forms application. It is force redirecting to another site, SSTS, hosted on the DS server. IT wants to keep all web requests going to the forms server.

Moving the SSTS site over to the forms server will be a perfect solution, so that forms stops routing to the other server. But the last step in the directions is not specific enough.

"set the Directory Server STS URL to point to the "LFDSSTS" hosted in the DMZ."

In Forms, you will want to define the STS URL by the host you want to authenticate with.  The instructions you are using id for setting up a DMZ, therefore they direct you to point to the DMZ STS site.  You have STS on the Forms server, so you want to point to the Forms STS site.

I do not see any STS site in IIS on the forms server. I want to configure STS on the forms server since it only is showing on the DS server. I am sure I am using the right article, it is an article for how to configure STS on an alternative server, in this case the same server Forms is one.

This is the title of the article I followed, but still no STS showing in IIS

did you use the LFDS installer to install STS on the Forms server?

I ran all the Executables mentioned in the article, I never saw a wizard of any kind though. Is the article missing an installer?

But did you install STS to start with?  STS is installed using the LFDS installer package.

The help file you linked to is assuming that you have the STS already installed.

Ok, had no idea. This is all new to me, so I was looking for an article that explains everything that needs to be done. I am assuming there is an STS ONLY radio button on the Directory Server Install Wizard, I guess I just never noticed it.

Run the regular LFDS installer and select only Laserfiche Directory Server Web STS from the component selection screen, like so:
