Question

auto collapse dropdown

asked on August 27, 2019 Show version history

I am going to try and ask what I am looking for in hopes it makes sense. I am trying to create a form in this manner. I would like there to be a drop down question for example, if the user chooses YES they will then need to select applicable choices (mandatory). If NO, then the choices will not expand and the user goes onto the next phase. Is this possible?

Does that make sense?

You should use field rules to completely hide the section, not collapsing/expanding sections.

If you set a field rule to hide the section when they select No, then you wouldn't need to worry about collapsing, expanding, or required fields, as the content wouldn't be shown on the form at all.

If you collapse a section with required (mandatory) fields, they will still be required, but if you use field rules to hide them, then that requirement will be ignored.

Jason,

First off, thanks so much for your reply. Secondly, pardon my ignorance. I am very new to LF and would need your assistance in a way that a 5th grader would understand.

What field (single line, multi line, drop down, etc..) would I select with the example I gave that the "field rules" would apply to?
