Now that we have finished upgrading to Laserfiche 10.4.1, we were looking to get Federated Search up and working for both our Laserfiche environment, as well as with specified network drives in our network. Although we have been able to set up a repository for searching, I have been unable to set up a specific File Provider.
Going through the documentation, I couldn't see anything on how this could be accomplished, as I was unsure as to what I should specify for Host, Port and Catalog path, or if these were things that needed to be set up in advance of referencing a specific network drive/location within our network.
I looked through a couple of Answers posts, and I found posts about how to set up a saved search, as well as uploading a saved search, but I couldn't see any other information beyond this.
Please let me know if there might be more information about how this can be accomplished, as I feel this will be very useful as we transition information off of our network drives and into Laserfiche for our various Business Centres - thanks, in advance, to anyone who can assist!

Configuring File Provider for Laserfiche Federated Search
Yes, that's where I was getting confused - I had not referenced the proper server as a Host, however now that I've done that, and specified an arbitrary Windows folder for a location for index files to reside, this appears to now be working as expected.
Thanks for your assistance with this!

Hi Marty,
In order to use File Provider to search network folders, firstly you need to configure the Laserfiche Full-Text Search Engine in the "File Provider - Settings" tab. You should have a Search Engine there since you have installed Laserfiche Server. What you need to do is to make sure the settings on that page are correct and provide a Windows location as "Catalog Path" to store the search content indexing. Once done, please click verify and save the settings.
Then you can start to add network folders in "File Provider - Rules" tab.
- Click the "+" button on the top-right to add a new rule.
- Specify a name to the rule
- Enter the root paths of each network folder you want to search
- Modify the "Triggers" if you want to set the access credential or change the crawler scheduling
- Click the "OK" button to save the rule
- Open the rule again and click the "Start" button on top-right to start the trigger
Now, you can use Federated Search to search your network folders along with the repositories.
