Question

Face/Touch ID - LFDS Authentication

asked on August 22, 2019

Has anyone had any success setting up Touch or Face ID on the mobile app when using LFDS?

I know it was not supported a year ago but I was hoping it is supported now and I am just doing something wrong.

If it is not, is it on the roadmap for 10.4.2 LFDS changes or can it be a feature request?

Cheers

Ross

Biometric support (touch/face id) when using Laserfiche Directory Server for authentication is currently on our roadmap for an upcoming release of our mobile app later this year.

Specifically, the app will support logging in using biometrics after you have logged in initially using your credentials.

Touch ID/Face ID works for our Laserfiche App, you first have to login using your Username and Password, then once you have done that you can select the Fingerprint/FaceID option and you can load using the Fingerprint ID/FaceID from there on in.

To Confirm Touch ID/ Face ID does work as a log in method for the Laserfiche APP.

Hi Anthony,

Thanks for the reply.  Do you have the SSO ticked for Forms in the mobile configuration?

We currently do not have single sign on configured for our solution.

Does Biometric authentication work for the Laserfiche Desktop Client and Web Access as well?  If not, is this on the roadmap?

Hi Tyler, It's not currently on the desktop client or web client roadmaps. I'd love to hear more about your and your customers' use cases.

Hi Ross,

Biometric authentication is not currently supported for SSO login. We are interested in this feature though and we plan to implement it in the future.

Hi Chase,

Thanks for clarifying.  Long shot, I am wondering if there is a way to turn off SSO for Forms but still use the LFDS accounts?

Basically quite a few of my clients are expecting/wishing the touch ID to work in the mobile app and would prefer to have this functionality rather than SSO for Forms.

So expected behaviour would be for them to type in an email address (or domain/username) and password into Forms when on PC but then have the Touch ID available on the iOS app.

Hope that makes sense.

Cheers

Ross

Unfortunately there is no way to turn off SSO without eliminating LFDS authentication. That use case does make sense though and we'd like to make that possible in the near future.

Any updates on mobile sign-on features for SSO?  Looking forward to Face ID/biometric touch, and keeping users logged in with no timeout.

Any updates on mobile sign-on using biometric for on-prem customers?

Pinging as well for any updates on using biometric logins in the mobile app while using LFDS.  Can you at least provide if this on the roadmap and if it has an ETA?  We've been fighting this for the last 2 years.

Biometric login for Mobile when using SSO is still under consideration but not currently on the roadmap.

Customer are really frustrate to login and fille their domain user name and password at each time they have to use the laserfiche app on their mobile.

a biometric or facial will help a lot for this login frustration

Extremely frustrating nothing has happened in 3 years. Especially when timeouts are so hard to get right on the product and change with version upgrades. Even targeting one mobile OS to start with would be a step forward.

Chiming in again to express that my users are extremely frustrated having to log in with Active Directory credentials on the mobile app when using forms.  I would hope that making it easier for people to log in and remain authenticated using biometrics would be a higher priority.

For comparison, my company recently trialed a mobile app for expense reports from SAP that allowed us to sync our AD accounts and set up biometric login and it worked great.
