Question

Unable to drag emails into web client

asked on July 31, 2019

One of our newer users has reported an issue when she tries dragging emails from Outlook into the Laserfiche web client and it isn't working.

What I expect to happen: Either a red box will pop up when she drags and drops it in saying she doesn't have the rights or a blue box will pop up saying she does have rights and then the metadata box will open up.

What actually happens: Neither box pops up and the cursor gets a rectangle next to it as I drag it over (see attached). The user tried in both Chrome and Internet Explorer and still has the issue. I tried with a different user and they get the expected behaviour.

Thoughts?

Hi Emily,

The email drag and drop functionality you're looking for is available, but you need to have the Laserfiche Office Integration installed on the local machine in order to to use it. I notice your outlook doesn't have the 'Laserfiche' ribbon. Once you install the Office Integration, email drag and drop should behave the way you expect.

Thank you! I'll give that a shot.

Actually, quick question: We want our users only using the web client. Does installing the office integration mean that we should also be installing the desktop client?

No, you can download an Office Integration install package from the Web Client. This package will only install Office Integration, not the other client components. You're prompted to download this package anytime you try to open a Office document in Web Client without Office Integration already installed.

I downloaded the Office integration and am still having the issue. Thoughts?

Can you confirm you have this extension installed on Chrome?

It was added but not enabled. I enabled the extension and it works now! smiley

Thanks Ryan!
