WebLink - Remove Customize Search & Entry Properties

asked on July 25, 2019

User would like to customize WebLink 10.1.  They want to leave the quick search bar at the top of the page.  In Search, they want to remove the Customize Search section on the left.  The additional search options would not be visible, the only way to search is through the quick search at the top.  They would be open to having it visible but limited for what can be searched for.  Like not being able to search for templates or volumes.

Not Visible:

They also want to remove the Path in Entry Properties when browsing.  It would be an option to not have Entry Properties visible at all.

Does anyone have ideas how to customize these settings?

Hi Barry -

This can be fixed within Weblink Designer simply by disabling the search pane/advanced search. We made this change recently and it's drastically improved user experience.

Allan,

After disabling the Search Pane link, it's still possible to search with the the search box at the top of the page and then the customize search is visible.  The user doesn't want the customize search area to be visible at all.

Hello,

I am interested in the same thing.  Currently the Customize Search option comes up after a public facing document is retrieved via Weblink.  The Customize Search option allows the Weblink users to see all of our Templates and Fields (via the dropdown menu).   I don't want the Weblink user to be able to see the template or template fields for internal docs.  I understand Weblink cannot get to the documents associated to those templates, however, I want the templates and fields for those internal docs not to be viewable as well.  I did find that by removing "Everyone" from the template I could make it not be visible on Weblink, however, that also made it so we could not see the associated fields internally, when viewing document metadata in Laserfiche.  This impacted all docs that had template fields that were shared with the template I was trying to hide.

I see in other posts, that simply deselecting the Search option in Weblink Designer might not keep the Customize Search from being available once a document was being displayed.

Also, I don't want the Records Management Search option to be available via Weblink.

Thanks in advance for any assistance anyone can provide.

Christine

After talking to Brian H with MCCI:

Brian indicated that I could make the templates not viewable on Weblink by adding our Weblink User as a Trustee, and then denying all Access Rights to the template, for the Weblink User (done in the Admin Console).

  1. Open Admin Console
  2. Go to Metadata Management
  3. Templates
  4. Right click on the template you want to set access rights for.
  5. Choose Properties.
  6. Click on the security button in the lower left corner.
  7. Add your Weblink User as a trustee.
  8. Deny all Current Template Access Rights.
  9. Click Apply & Ok.
  10. Click Apply & Ok again.
  11. The template should no longer show up in the list on Weblinks Customize Search (you may have to refresh or log out and in again (to Weblink) before it leaves the list).

It worked great.

I am thinking I may need to do it for Fields too.

Still learning here (I have used that excuse for a long time :) ).  Hope this was not too simplistic.  So thankful to Brian for his help and hoping this helps someone else out there.
