Question

Customer keeps getting randomly logged out of Web Client (10.4.1)

asked on July 24, 2019

Hello,

We have a customer who is using just the Web Client.

Users for this customer are getting randomly logged out, without notice.

It varies in length of time this happens.

In looking at the Server-Operational Logs, there are quite a few informational entries that stipulate Invalid Connection:

Invalid Connection
  Message: Exception encountered, stack trace:
  Laserfiche.WebAccess.Common.RecentEntryBuffer.FlushRecentFolders
  Laserfiche.WebAccess.Common.ConnectionManager.ForceDisconnect
  Laserfiche.WebAccess.Common.ConnectionManager.DisconnectAll
  Laserfiche.WebAccess.Common.Util.WebAccessSession.LogoutSession

We have the idle timeout in IIS set to 480 min, same for the Logout Automatically setting in LF Admin->RepositoryOption->Settings.

Appreciate any insight.

Did you ever find a solution to this issue?

No the are still dealing with it. Typically when you "log in" to a web based service, it has no idea when you are "logging out" because there is no application to monitor.

The web server can only see new requests from the browser, which are only sent at specific times when hyperlinks are clicked, through javascript requests, etc.

For example if you log into Forms and then turn off your computer and visit the site the next day, you will still be logged in just as if you were sitting on the site the whole time.

Often web application will just log out out after a set period of time since the last request, for Forms it works a little odd and times you out after a set period of time from first login time, this means you can actually be logged out right immediately making a request.

Web Client has a period of time for log out as well, but it also has a triggered log out. I can reproduce the triggered log out by closing my browser. Somehow they found a way to detect that the browser was closed and immediately log out. I think this detection is what is going haywire and being triggered accidentally. I can't even begin to understand how it works though, since nothing on the workstation should be visible to the server.

In this case the client was using repository authentication and we edited the C:\Program Files\Laserfiche\Web Access\Web Files\web.config file and changed the default value of 30 for the timeout value to a higher value. That seems to have resolved the issue.

Oh that is a much different case, our user gets logged out within seconds to a minute of logging in and it is only the one user.

We have a similar problem.  There are scanning workstations with Repository User accounts in several plants.  They've been working for years with no issue scanning using the desktop client v10.2.1.  In the last few weeks 3 or 4 locations are getting "Invalid connection. Your connection has been terminated by the administrator.[790]" errors immediately when the log in.  The same account is used for all 3 shifts. Two of the shifts will scan with no issue, then the next shift will get it.  There doesn't seem to be a rhyme or reason.  As quickly as the issue arises, it will suddenly stop happening for maybe a week, then it's back.  I'd appreciate any help I could get on this.  Thx

This sounds like a different issue. We were/are always having a problem with getting logged out of the web client due to the web service receiving a false notification that we have closed our web browser.

Sounds like an Admin is terminating the session from the Active Sessions node on the administration console.

I would change your admin password just to be sure.

I'm the admin, and no one has been logging out users.  Understand, the error is immediate.  When the user attempts to log in, they get the error.  There is not time for it to be logged out by the admin.
