Question

Office add-in menu is blank

asked on July 22, 2019 Show version history

I will raise a case with support if no-one has seen this issue before.

I have one workstation that, after installation of LF Client 10.4.1 including Office Integration, the Laserfiche menu in Word is blank; see pic:

The Laserfiche menu is available but all text is missing.

Office 365 and Laserfiche Client have been re-installed.

All folders and registry entries were deleted before the new re-installation.

I'm having the same issue, although I am on 10.3.1

I have not got to the bottom of this one yet.  It has only occurred on one workstation.

Thanks for the FYI. I have a ticket open with my VAR, Cities Digital, as well. I'll post back if we find a fix.

Well, I was able to fix our scenario. I was hoping we could find the exact cause but at least I know this process worked for the user computer that had the problem:

  • Added user as local admin (temporary)
  • Deleted all registry keys with Laserfiche referenced
  • Uninstalled Office 365
  • Uninstalled Office 2007PIA
  • Reboot
  • Re-installed Office
  • Reboot
  • Disabled existing Office plugins. Adobe PDF and Dymo Labels.
  • Copied client folder to her downloads folder and ran the exe installer. We have a silent installer but in this scenario I just ran the SetupLF.exe. We also only install the web client and thick client.
  • Opened office and bam! Laserfiche tab.
  • I then re-enabled the Adobe and Dymo plug-ins

Also, here is a few more details of the affected system.

  • Windows 10 1809
  • Office 365 E3 x64 Version 1902
  • Laserfiche Office Integration: 10.3.1.505

Where did you go to delete the registry keys related to laserfiche?

Alex, to be honest, I just went through the entire registry and deleted every entry listing Laserfiche relating to office products.

Hi Peter, just wondering if you did raise a support ticket for this with LF,

After uninstalling and reinstalling office on one of my machines I am confronted with the same issue, we are running 10.4.1, have done various things trying to fix

- uninstall LF client suite/office add-in, restart machine, reinstall LF,

- removed user profile, fresh start with new profile, no change in behavior

Doesn't look like the uninstall does a very good job

Hope you have additional comments on this ticket, thanks, Adri

FYI using automated install with this command:

"\\server\installs\Server\LaserFiche\10.4.1\en\WindowsClient\SetupLf.exe" -silent -log "C:\temp\WindowsClientInstall_LF_10_4_1" LFCADDLOCAL="Client" LFSSADDLOCAL="Snapshot" LFOADDLOCAL=ALL

Actually no, I did not raise a support case.

I waited for some time for the customer to supply more detail.  The workstation is now no longer in use.

Thanks for your response, wish I could say  "just don't use that computer" :-)

Just had this issue. VC++ installation didn't fix it. Uninstalled LF web tools and office integration. Ran an online repair of office. Rebooted. Reinstalled LF web tools and integration and it started working.

This seems to be seen more and more when the user does not have elevated rights and is installed by an admin.

Has anyone been able to identify a fix for this!
