Problem using a new view or table in a Forms lookup

asked on July 17, 2019 Show version history

I just created a view in my SQL Server database, and I want to use it in a lookup rule on a form. I set the selector to "Table/View", but the list of tables and views only includes tables. My view is missing.

I've already checked permissions. The view has the same permissions as the tables that work fine in other lookup rules. Also, since this environment has only development and training data, I'm accessing it using my own login--the same login I used when I created the view and tested in in SSMS.

Is there something special I have to do to use a view in a Forms lookup rule?

I realize troubleshooting this kind of thing on this kind of thread is impossible, but does anyone have ideas of things I should check?

I'm using Laserfiche Forms Professional Version version 10.3.1.635

Thank you so much!

Did you try a refresh on the Data Source?  Our views show up under look up

It sounds like you missed the step to add it as a data source in Forms.  While signed in to forms, click your name in the upper right hand corner, then click Administration.  On the left column select Data Sources, then select the New Data Source button and create your data source and add it to the business process.

Then when you return to the business process and select a look up it should show up now.

Thank you. That was a great suggestion and I've made that mistake before, but this time I've got the data source added to the process. The data source shows up fine when I try to add a lookup rule, and all the tables in the database show up to be selected, but my view is missing, so I can't choose it.

Craig's on the right track. When you add tables or views to a data source, they will not appear immediately unless you refresh the data source.

AAAaaaaah! Yes, I just forgot to refresh! Thank you. I'm sure I'm not the first one who has done this, so I'm going to slightly change my question hoping to make it more likely to be seen by others who make the same mistake.

Thank you!
