Question

Question

Set field to read-only (or change visibility) based on current user (submitter username)

asked on June 28, 2019

Working on a time sheet form. There is an "Employee Username" field that is set to {/_currentuser} and read-only. If the current user (submitter) is a supervisor, however, I want them to be able to enter the employee name, in case an employee is out when time sheets are due. Any ideas are much appreciated.

Just an idea! Use field rules to show a employee field if supervisor field is not blank! Then the employee field would be an input field.

Are you doing any kind of look up or just using the /currentuser?  If you are just using the /currentuser how do you know the person is a supervisor?

I only have Forms Essentials running for now. We are planning an upgrade soon. But, for now, I cannot do any look ups. I know if I use Javascript, I could just enter the supervisors usernames in an array (for now).
