Basic workflow question - routing files and creating folders

asked on June 25, 2019

Hi all,

I've created a workflow that routes incoming bankruptcy files. It sorts them by year based on the bankruptcy dismissal date - the workflow creates a folder for the dismissal year. However, some files are still in flux and there is no dismissal date yet to enter in the template metadata.

I've created a conditional decision - if there already is a folder for that year, route the file to the folder; if there's not a folder, create it and route it. What can I build into the workflow so that if there is no date in the metadata, it simply routes the file to parent "Bankruptcy" folder, not one of the year subfolders?

Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I would think that the concept would be that the "Route to folder" value would strictly be a token that you create and build.  In the attachments you'll see how a new token is created and set to "Bankruptcy" and then a conditional decision checks if the Dismissal Date is empty or not.  If it is not empty, append the year on to the token.  Finally, set the destination to the new routing path token.
