an unknown error has occurred during scanning. Please check all connections and that the power is on

I am getting this error for a user using an Epson DS-530 scanner using the WIA drivers. I can scan single sided without any error, and can scan duplex with the twain driver but the twain driver is too light and any adjustments I try to make do not save.

Did you ever find a solution for this? I am running into it now.

If I remember correctly I installed the ISIS drivers and used them.
