Question

Assign existing data fields in DB to PDF files metadata using Workflow

asked on June 24, 2019

Hi,

I have an existing data fields in the database, with file number as primary Key. I want to link those data fields to their corresponded PDF file template fields in laserfiche clint, each pdf file named as same as the file number in the database. all the template fields are the same as the database fields.

I hope you understand my question.

Hi Abduljawad,

If i understand you well, workflow should be able to accomplish this without any problem.

Use Search Repository -> For Each Entry -> Retrieve Field Value -> Custom Query -> Assign Field Value.

Thanks.

Yes!  Mahesh is absolutely correct.  Just did this exact thing to update metadata "approval status" on repository entries where an employee cancelled their leave.

It didn't work for me, I will try to clarify more with screen shots, so that you can have a clear vision of my problem.

As you can see from the data table below, it has File_Num fields, lets assume the is a database table in MS SQL.

In the second screen shot we can see that I have uploaded some files in LaserFiche Clint in a specific folder, the files names are the same as the file_num in the database.

In the third screen shot I have a template have some fields.

I want to assign two fields from the database (Lets say File_Num, and Name) to the file template that have the same file number, whenever I upload file to the folder, the workflow will run automatically and assign each data fields to it corresponding file templates.

I am sorry, for the long description, I hope you could get it.

Thank You
