New to Laserfiche here so bear with my ignorance. It's my understanding that a Record folder cannot be contained in a regular (non-record) folder. But, using the Web UI, if you create a Regular folder (i.e. MyNestedFolder) within another Regular folder (i.e. MyParentFolder), the UI allows you to assign record-specific properties (i.e. CutOff Instruction, etc.) to the nested Regular folder which changes the nested folder to a Record folder (icon changed in Repository tree). Any thoughts on this? This is obviously a user error, but shouldn't the UI disallow this action?

Hi Eric,
Laserfiche 10.4 added new flexibility to records management properties, allowing users with the proper security rights to assign properties to any entry in the repository, which turns the entry into a record or record folder.
If, as the admin, you'd like to restrict records management properties to contents in records series, then you can enable the option called "Only allow records management classifications for documents and folders under record series" in the web client management page, which will prevent users from applying properties anywhere except within a record series.
