Laserfiche Forms issue - User cannot download or view the attached document

asked on June 14, 2019

What access rights do Users need to be able to download or view the attached document on the form?

The User gets the error message "The account does not have sufficient rights to download form attachments."  when trying to download or view the document on the attachment field.  This User has the “Submitter” access rights to the process.

Thank you.

I'm not aware of Forms rights that would restrict something that specific. If you can view the Form, then you should be able to view all of the content, including files.

Is it possible that the user doesn't have enough rights on the PC to download files?

Can they view the form at all, or does that error message appear as soon as they try to open it?

How are they accessing it? (completed tasks, an assigned user task, etc.)

The user can view the form just fine.  The error only appears when they click on the file field and tried opening the document attached.   This is on the assigned user task.

That's interesting. Forms doesn't have field-specific permissions other than making things read-only.

The next questions would be:

  • Is it only affecting a single user or multiple users?
  • Does it happen when the same user tries a different PC?
  • Have they tried other browsers?

It's affecting multiple users (Submitter and Business Manager) that are using IE browser.  The "Process Admin" user has no issue with the file field.

However, when they tried in Chrome, it showed the "Save" option but not the "Open" option.

Are there any settings in IE that we need to configure to make this work?

Thank you for looking into this.  We appreciate your help and support.

I've never encountered this exact issue before so it is hard to say, but the easiest way to rule out Forms permissions would be to change one of the Process Admins to a Business Manager or Submitter, then see if they have the same issue.

Once you confirm that, I would compare the IE settings between the Admin user and the other users. There may be a group policy affecting them that is not affecting the admin user.

We have isolated the issue.  Only Users that are accessing Laserfiche Forms using Tablet WINDOWS 10 have this problem.  So, even a Process Admin get the same error message.  Are there any configurations that we need to setup for Tablet Users?
