Question

Dark images

asked on June 3, 2019

Hi Everyone,

Is there a setting in Laserfiche to manipulate the color on photos? All the scanners at my job scan photos in very dark. I've had our scanner support come out and they said that there is no configuration on the scanners to fix the issue. Please share anything that you think will help.

Thanks,

Renee Kross, Records Manager

Your scanner driver or software will no doubt have a broad range of settings including brightness and color correction.

Almost every scanner I have seen has the ability to brighten a scanned document. This may not be the case with the WIA driver. Photodocs can be used clean up pages after they have been scanned into Laserfiche.

Thank you, Drew. How do I access Photodocs?

Assuming it is installed, you would right click on a document(Has to be a tif) and select reprocess with photodocs.

Laserfiche PhotoDocs

PhotoDocs is a Laserfiche component that is used to perform image correction on images obtained from a digital camera, in order to enhance their OCR quality. PhotoDocs should be installed on every workstation on which you want to perform this image correction and import. Laserfiche PhotoDocs stands on its own and does not need to be installed alongside any other components. However, if it is installed on the same computer as the Windows client, it can be used to perform image correction on documents already in the repository.

I'd still take another run at getting the issue fixed at the scanner. Either with a hardware configuration, or by changing the drivers. Although, it sounds like you might have a networked scanner, like a walk-up multi-function device? Remember, the guys who sell and support those make money from printing, not scanning. ;)
