Question

How a PDF Opens in the Desktop Client in the Document Viewer

asked on May 30, 2019

Hello Everyone,

Just throwing this out to see if anyone has any thoughts.  I am currently on 10.2 but upgrading soon to 10.3.  I use the Desktop Client (Not Web Access).  I have both Adobe Pro and Adobe Reader on my computer and the default is to open PDF files with Reader.

We have a Forms process that saves the form as a PDF with the action history.  Every time I open one of those files, it opens with the tools tab and bookmarks tab opened.  I have to click both arrows (in red circle in shot below) just to be able to see the document.

Is there any way to get it to open with those tabs closed?

Thanks for any input.

You can hide the toolbar with CTRL+H. To get it to stay hidden, open a PDF in Adobe, set the "Remember current state of Tools pane" option, collapse the pane and close the PDF (see here).

Thanks.  I will give this a try.  I just attempted it and it will not hold the last setting.  I will try it again.

Yes, this is one of the most annoying things about Adobe Reader.

Jennifer, for me, it looked like it didn't hold the setting on the first try. But it worked on the second.

Unfortunately this is all controlled by the Adobe frame in this case.
