File(s) in recycle bin preventing field Constraint

Hello,

I am adding some constraint to our metadata fields to assist users in properly filling out fields.  The metadata fields have been available to users for sometime previous to me adding constraints.  When trying to ad the constraint i get t he following error:

Is there way for me address this issue other than purging all files in the repository recycle bin?

The only option would be to either purge the entries causing the issue, or restore the entries, edit the field value, then delete them again.

The problem is that until an entry is purged, it could be restored at any time, so even entries in the recycle bin have to conform to the field constraints to prevent errors.

Is there a way for me to identify the entries causing the issue from the recycle bin?

You could run an advanced search on the Recycle Bin that looks for any entries that have a value in that field.

Depending on your constraint, it's possible you could run a secondary search on those results to narrow it down to the ones where the field value doesn't match the required pattern.

Searching the recycle bin is not available in version 9, that's a feature that was added in version 10.

 

Perhaps I have to wait until we upgrade to V.10
