Sub-Process Tab Ordering in Forms Process Modeller

posted on May 12, 2019

Here is another suggestion to help improve the usability of the Forms Process Modeller.

Currently when you add a Sub-Process to a process, the order of the tabs is fixed.

It would be great if it were possible to have this updated to allow drag and drop reordering of the processes.

In the example above, Payment can never be moved to appear after Approval. The current work around is to use the new functionality that allows copy and pasting of process objects, to copy and paste from the old Sub-Process to the New Sub-Process. But this becomes exceptionally painful when you have a complicated process.. and you need to move it somewhere in between for example:

Drag and drop is probably a big time investment.. so perhaps simpler still, control the tab index order from the Sub-Process Properties Pane?

Thanks team.

Thanks for the suggestion. I added it to the feature request in our backlog. This request can also be found on this post.

Thanks Jared. I met one of the forms engineers at Empower who said that he would add it to the list. Just wanted to make sure it is in there for sure :)

Hi @████████,

Just wanted to follow up and see if this had progressed any further up the backlog? Example of a real world 'need' provided below:

The "Background Check" sub-process was added after this process was initially launched. Even though "Onboarding Process" now comes after the "Background Check" in the actual business process, without some type of index control, the tab will forever be stuck behind the "Onboarding Process" tab along the bottom due to the order in which they were created.

The work around is a lot easier nowadays thanks to recent ability to copy+paste, but recreating sub-processes to control tab order isn't an ideal solution.

Many thanks for your consideration!

It's in our system (110248) but also hasn't been assigned to a release.
