Web Access Default Repository Setting

asked on May 2, 2019

Hello- In the Web Client Configuration page under Connection, there is a radio button to select one default repository so when there is a user who does not have access to that default repository, they would get the access denied message when they initially launch the page.

Is there a way,  after login is being initiated, to identify the default repository based on who is logging in?

Instead of being bound to one default repository for all, Laserfiche would, for example, go down the list of repositories listed in Connection in the background and when it finds the first repository on the list accessible by the user logging in,  the page would be loaded with that repository as the default.

There isn't currently a way to do this, but a default repository does seem like a reasonable suggestion for a feature.  We don't want to try logging in to repositories without some kind of prompting (either explicit selection or it being the default) so that we don't generate spurious "failed login" audit events.  You can specify the repository in the URL and distribute different URLs to different users.

Thanks for sharing your suggestion! As Brian noted, we would likely not try to auto-login the user to each repository, but we do have an internal request for functionality to send users to an appropriate repository when there isn't a good, shared default.

I have added this post to that request so that we know to update here if we move forward with that functionality.
