Today, May 1st 2019, Laserfiche announces the End-of-Life for Laserfiche Standalone Editions. This includes Laserfiche Desktop, Laserfiche Notebook and Laserfiche Executive. The last day to order Laserfiche Standalone Editions or related add-on modules is November 1st, 2019. Customers with active LSAP will continue to receive support as outlined in the table below.

In one year, on May 1st 2020, Laserfiche will end software maintenance of Laserfiche Standalone Editions and Limited Technical Support will begin. If you choose to remain on LSAP, we will continue to support Standalone Editions to the best of our abilities, but no new hotfixes or updates will be developed. Laserfiche version 10.4 will be the last version of the Laserfiche Server to support Standalone Editions. In two years, on May 1st, 2021, Laserfiche will end the Limited Technical Support. No support services will be offered for Laserfiche Standalone Editions after this date, marking the End-of-life.

Product Migration Options

Laserfiche Standalone Editions were designed to deploy in small offices, often with as few as one person running the whole system from one machine. Each edition was licensed slightly differently to serve a different price point and purpose. The migration plans will differ depending on the extent to which the you deployed the system. Each system included 2 Full Concurrent Users and 1 Retrieval Concurrent User license, but was often only used by one individual.

  • Laserfiche Notebook includes unlimited pages, 5 repositories, it supports multiple volumes
  • Laserfiche Desktop stored up to 16,000 pages, with only 1 repository and 1 volume.
  • Laserfiche Executive includes unlimited pages, 15 repositories and multiple volumes.

Migration Details

We encourage you to consult with your Laserfiche Solution Provider to map out a smooth transition plan. Consider either Laserfiche Avante, Laserfiche Rio, Laserfiche Subscription or Laserfiche Cloud as options for a supported platform moving forward. For the purposes of migration only, we will group Laserfiche Avante, Laserfiche Rio and Laserfiche Subscription into one category called on-premises migrations. As with all migrations, we recommend backing up your data before beginning the migration. Your Laserfiche Solution Provider can assist with providing the necessary test licenses and migration plan.

On-Premises Migrations who have only one repository in their Laserfiche Standalone deployment can simply reactivate with the new activation key for the new deployment. If you are running an upgrade, you can use the new activation key and installation package when running the upgrade to convert the data over to the new deployment model. Another option is creating a briefcase of the root folder in the Laserfiche Standalone server and transferring over to the new system. If you have multiple users, you will want to recreate the security rights in the new system as well.

On-Premises migrations with more than one repository will want to either consolidate all of the repositories into one and then swap out the license as outlined above, or create individual briefcases for each repository. Please note that since Laserfiche Desktop only has on repository, so the consolidation step is not required for that licensing model.

Customers looking to migrate to Laserfiche Cloud should work with their Laserfiche Solution Provider to gain access to the Laserfiche Cloud migration utility and instructions.

Customers with active LSAP will be given credit towards a migration to Laserfiche Avante or Laserfiche Rio. Similarly, you will be given an LSAP credit towards a purchase of Laserfiche Subscription or Laserfiche Cloud. An exception will allow downgrade of your LSAP in the event that your Standalone version has more users or larger LSAP than the equivalent migrated Laserfiche product suite.
