Kofax VRS driver settings

Where does Kofax VRS store the driver settings?

With ScanConnect, they are stored in C:\Windows\SetScan.ini, but this file is not used by Kofax.

I have a customer using Kofax VRS and when they change the driver settings, the settings are only holding during the current scan session.  Once they exit scanning and come back in, the driver settings revert back to the original settings.

I have seen this happen with ScanConnect and the solution is to clear the SetScan file and then open scanning and set the driver settings.  I would like to try the same thing with the Kofax settings file, but don't know where it is.

There should be a QFKofax.ini in C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Laserfiche\Batch Processor.

That file was not there, so I created it and gave everyone full rights to it.  We opened scanning, went to the Kofax driver settings, changed them, exited out of scanning and the ini file stayed at 0 bytes.  When we opened scanning again and checked the driver settings, they were reverted back.

Any ideas as to why the QFKofax.ini file did not get the settings written to it?

The settings that Laserfiche controls are stored in QFKofax.ini, but it's possible that the relevant settings are not ones that are controlled by Laserfiche. 

I did a quick search and came across this documentation from Kofax: https://knowledge.kofax.com/Capture/General_Documentation/Where_does_Kofax_Capture_store_Scanner_Profiles_and_VRS_Profiles_in_Windows_7%2C_8.x%2C_and_10%3F

Have you tried looking in the locations specified in that article?

Tessa, thanks for the reply.  I am not talking about the VRS profiles (those work fine), but about the ISIS Driver settings.

Can anyone tell me where those should be stored?

Can you specify what settings should be stored in the QFKofax.ini?

Settings for paper size, paper source, and color format should be stored in QFKofax.ini. Are those the settings you're referring to?

It probably depends on your version of Kofax but I have found them before in the Kfxisis.ini file under the profile. I believe for our versions of Kofax 4/5 it is in the Program Files/Kofax/ImgCtls/bin/Profiles

Hi Bert,

Did you ever get the answer to this?  I am currently having a similar problem.  I attempted to change the Scanner Option-->Advanced settings (ie:  clarity, noise, skew, blank page).  When I scanned after changing some of these, the quality was better but now I get an error message "Out of Paper -- CDT009-Load more to continue".  

And when I close our the scanner window and go to scan again the settings didn't save.

Can you help me?
