Question

Get RPA to 'loop through' email messages

asked on April 23, 2019

I have an email box with over 1000 email messages. I need to forward each of those email messages to an email address. I have created a bot that will open and forward an email message. But I need the bot to loop through all of the messages in the email box (outlook 2010). Is there a way I can get the bot to go to the next message.

If I wanted to delete the email message after forwarding, it would be easier to put the bot in a loop becuase the new message will always be at the top and I think the bot would be ok with that. I'd really like to see if I can find a way to go to the next email message.

Because I dont want to delete the email message, I could move the message to a new folder after forwarding (bc I dont want to delete them)...but would like to find a way to 'loop through'.

Not that I would want push people away from RPA, but what about using Outlook rules to solve this?

I am looking for a proof of concept for RPA. This would be a simple example that non-technicals would be able to understand.

Generally, if a product has its own automation tool, we recommend using that, such as Outlook rules.

For a simple proof of concept, I would recommend transferring data between two systems. For example, if you collect new hire data in more than one system, have the bot copy information from the first system, and write it to the second.
