Method to detect password-protected PDFs?

asked on April 22, 2019

We have users uploading password-protected PDFs to Laserfiche when they should really be removing passwords before they upload. Is there any way to detect password-protected PDFs, either during user input (i.e. when they use Forms or Snapshot to add the document), or after the document is already in the repository? At the very least, I'd like to know where our password-protected PDFs currently are.

Thanks

In this previous post , you can find a script to detect whether a given PDF is password protected.

You could potentially run a workflow with a custom scripting activity that checks for the password protection and then adds some metadata so that you can run searches for these PDFs as needed based on the metadata, or emails someone about issues on newly created documents.
