Question

Viewing folder properties

asked on April 18, 2019

We are transferring/replicating entries for approximately 500GB from an on premise system to the cloud and we need to be able to verify that all the data is successfully transferred.  One of the ways we ordinarily would do this is by checking the properties from the root folder on down and this would give us the number of folders, files and size of the entire tree.  Does anyone know of a good way to do this on the cloud side?  Running reports is the only option we see, but that's not quite what we are looking for.

This is sorely needed for migration purposes in the web client.

Hi, did you ever receive a response to this question? We are looking to do the something similar.

Unfortunately not.  I am told that the only real way to get properties is to use the "generate report" feature in the browser interface.  It doesn't present as simply and elegantly as a typical properties check though...

I found that if I run a Page Creation report, and change the view to Bar Graph or Line Graph, I can see the quantity of files created (can assume imported if no other user was manually creating documents simultaneously) with a given time period - hour, day, or week.

It would still be very helpful for both administrative and document management purposes to be able to view the properties of a folder, and see the total quantity of files within it at any moment of time.

Tech Support can retrieve these stats for the customer.

Miruna, I think the issue is that you have to wait to hear back instead of being able to run it when needed so we can move forward. It extends out the migration process having to wait to hear back each time.

yes, it is not practical to require the involvement of support to verify that data gets transferred., especially when a migration often involves multiple transfers...
