Forms - Copying a field to another form

posted on April 16, 2019

Is there any way to copy a field in it's current state to another form, for example an entire table, and keep the variable the same. Right now if you use the variables holding area, it only gives you the first saved copy of the field, and not the current configuration.

It would also be useful to be able to delete a field from a form but keep a backup in the holding area, this also doesn't seem to be possible, since it only ever saves one copy per variable name and it is always the very first draft.

You'd have to copy the entire form and delete any parts you didn't need. If you wanted to copy it to another process, you'd have to copy the process and delete anything that wasn't need. You could then build/copy the other process into the newly copied process.

Ok, I was thinking if you wanted to copy the field over to another existing form, or move it to another form. Within the same process.

That isn't currently supported. If you go to the variables pane, you can drag a variable from another form on to your current form, but you still have to configure it. For tables/collections, if you add a field on one form, you can similarly add that field by variable on other forms as well, but you still have to configure it.
