forms summary details using variable not field label

IS there a way to force the forms Summary Details to use the Field Label instead of the Variable?

Unfortunately there is not. The field label is specific to the form itself. You could even have the same variable on multiple forms with different field labels. Currently the only unique identifier that's available in the inbox is the variable name itself.  

We will look into ways to make the display name available in the future.

I think an option for a "Display Name" for variables could be very useful, similar to how we can change how a variable is presented in the reports.

Label would still be form specific, and an optional "user friendly" display name could be added for things like the summary and instance monitoring details.
