Timer Catch Event for Escalation Email

asked on April 9, 2019

I am setting a timer catch event for use as a escalation email on a overdue task. I have two questions:

  • Is there a way to send this email to a specific person based on their role in a team?
  • Do I need to place an end event or an outflow arrow to the next task in the process?

Here is what I currently have

Hi Lawrence,

  • If it was a User Task, you could probably apply a JavaScript filter to send it to a specific user based on the current user's role; as it stands, you're probably best off creating a sub-process with an exclusive gateway that handles that logic, and passing the process flow to it from the timer catch event.
  • You do not need to place an end event or an outflow from the Email Service Task unless you want to kill the process after a certain amount of time or skip the initial assignee task and essentially reassign it to be completed by another user. If you want to do this, you'll need to select the "Interrupt the attached activity" option.

Best,

Rob

It is best practice to put a normal end event after the email service task. It will just end the thread that triggered the email service task and the user task will not be affected.
