Question

delete folder in webaccess

asked on April 2, 2019

I have Web Client runnng version 10.3.1.  I have a user with full rights to delete as well as access privileges to delete a folder as well as documents within the folder.   In the Windows Client the user can delete the folder, no problem.  In Web Client, the same user cannot delete the same folder.   I am an admin on the system and have the same issue.   We can both  can delete a document within the folder via Web Client;  just not the folder itself.  Any ideas?

When you say "the same user cannot delete the same folder", does it return an error when you try?  Or the UI doesn't let you attempt the operation?

No error,  the UI delete button is dimmed out

The "Show Security" dialog can show your effective rights for the folder.  Does is indicate that you have permission to delete it?

Yes, it is showing the user has full rights to delete.  Again,  they can delete in the full client, just not in the web client.   It seems to only be affecting the folder.  Docs within the folder can be deleted.

Does the user have rights to delete the parent of the folder you're trying to delete? If it does not, try granting the Delete Entry access right for that user to the parent folder then see if you can delete in Web Client as a test.

It's possible Web Client is incorrectly the parent folder's rights instead of the folder itself.

If that still doesn't work, i'd recommend opening a support case and attach an Entry Effective Access Rights report for the user on the target folder, as well as a User Security Properties Report for the user.

The user is one of the admins and her right to delete is inherited from the administrator's group.  That group also has rights to delete the parent folder.   sounds like I need to open a support case.  Thanks
