Workflow log missing history

I am trying to find an instance of workflow that ran back in December of 2018. It's not showing up in the search. In fact, nothing is for that workflow since the beginning of March 2019. Other workflow have history of instances going back much further than that. I know the workflow ran in December because it sent an email, which i have a copy of.

Any ideas why there's history missing?

By default, Workflow will delete completed instances 30 days after completion. You can check your settings in the Workflow Administration Console under Advanced Server Options.

I would guess the other instances you are looking at are still running or have completed in the last 30 days.
