Question

Forms and attachments

asked on April 1, 2019 Show version history

I have Laserfiche Forms that allow for files to be uploaded.  These attachments can be opened and viewed during the business process.  However, when uploaded PDF's are saved to the repository, they contain no pages.  Word and Excel documents have no pages but they open in their source program.  I have File Uploads linked to the original form as an attachment.  My vendor states there is no direct way to generate pages for attachments coming in through Forms but I've seen at least two threads in Answers that state Forms 10.2.1 can generate pages for PDF's upon document entry.  If it can be done, can someone tell me how to do it?  Thanks.

Quick question... Do the attachments need to be loaded to the repository?

I haven't tried sending Excel, but Word docs do work.

Some do, yes.  Specifically want the PDF's.

The import settings for the save to repository task follow the settings configured for the connection profile user. You can log in to the web client as the connection profile user, go to Options, and configure how you want the documents to be saved from Forms.

For PDFs:

Check which user is configured as the connection profile in the save to repository task in Forms, then log in with that user to the web client. As that user, go to options in web client, New Document tab, and select the option to generate pages for PDFs on import. When Forms imports a PDF file into the repository as that user, it will be converted to a LF doc with pages.

For MS Office docs:

To answer your other question, no, you cannot generate pages for Microsoft Word or Excel documents when saving these attachments to the repository.
