Email Text Searchable Only When Emails are Imported Via Add-on, not When Dragged and Dropped

asked on March 28, 2019 Show version history

Hi everyone,

I noticed that if I import an email via the MS Outlook add-on, its text becomes searchable, however, when I drag and drop that same email into the repository, the text isn't searchable. We have the following settings across the board to ensure that text gets generated when documents are imported into Laserfiche, but this is obviously not happening for .msg files...

What am I missing? Please help!!!

Olga.

Hi Olga,

When you import an email from the Outlook add-in, the Laserfiche Office Integration generates the text ,but when you drag and drop the MSG file from Outlook, the Web Client performs the text generation. Web Client uses iFilter text extraction to generate searchable text from MSG files. Can you confirm that the appropriate iFilters are installed on the Web Client server machine?

Hi Ryan,

Thank you for clarifying this. We are using DCC to generate searchable text for files imported into Web Client and it is scheduled to run continuously. It works for other types of files, but not .msg files. Should we then first check if these types of files are covered by DCC or there is more to it?

Thank you in advance,

Olga.
