Workflow: Referencing starting rule in workflow

asked on March 28, 2019

Hi all,

Does anyone know of a way to reference the starting rule that started a workflow inside the workflow itself? Optimally, I'd like to be able to use this information to handle the starting entry differently using a conditional decision. So, if the entry was copied, it would go down conditional branch 1, if it was deleted, it would go down branch 2.

Thanks!

Rob

There's a %(rulename) token you can use. It's not listed in the Token Dialog since workflows are not guaranteed to have starting rules, but you can type it in and it will be resolved at runtime. You may have to click "Publish Anyway" when the Designer will warn you it can't find the token.

Thanks, Miruna! This is very helpful information. Does LF have any documentation on these "hidden" tokens?

Agreed, a list of these would definitely help out in many situations, saving time on workarounds.

Thanks a lot, Miruna, super helpful! I missed the asterisk on that page when I first checked.
