Question

Token In Pattern for Pattern Matching

asked on March 18, 2019

Is it possible to use a token inside the "Pattern" portion of a Pattern Match activity in Workflow (10.2)?  Since the arrow on the right is not there and I've not been able to get it working by typing in the token, my guess is no.

I also tried doing this directly into a token and it failed to extract it there as well.

What is weird is that it works great in a condition.

The problem is that I am needing to do a bunch of variations of pattern matching against the OCR't text on the first page.  While I know I can create a branch for every variation in the pattern I wish to check, it would be so much easier to put those patterns in a multi-value token and just run it through a For Each Value loop.  When I test the regex's on their own, they successfully come back with the value I am looking for however when done through any regex extraction, they fail to grab it.  I am just wanting to see if anyone else has found a way to do this.

Don't you have the "Allow tokens in the pattern" checkbox in the Pattern Matching window ?

Or maybe I missunderstood the question.

I see where that option was added in WF 10.3.  Unfortunately, this customer is still on 10.2 and that option is not available.  Looks like it is time to upgrade.  Thanks for the heads up as this is the first time I have tried this and should've thought to check the latest version for the functionality.

There was no Workflow 10.3.  Rio and Avante 10.3 shipped with workflow 10.2.  That said, WF Designer 10.2 has "Allow tokens in the pattern"

But if it helps you upgrade... by all means angel
