Server question- Migrating your scanned doc's from server straight into Laserfiche

asked on March 15, 2019

Good afternoon and evening all,

I can't remember how to make the scan doc's go from the copier over to the server and then straight over to Laserfiche. To were I wont have to import them. I have been importing them from the server over to Laserfiche for them. I really don't want to keep doing it this way. Because it's going to start getting out of hand when more employee's are going to be scanning and will be adding fields when it goes to Laserfiche. Can someone help me with this I hope this is the place to ask this question. Thank you

If you want to automatically import docs from a shared Windows folder then you should consider Laserfiche Import Agent.

You can setup a profile to automatically import any docs from your copier folder into a folder in the repository.  Templates etc can also be added.

Good morning Peter,

I found it on our Laserfiche server. I will need IT to set it up or let me have access to do so thank you for your help.

Ideally you'd be using the built in scanning functionality of Laserfiche. Are you saying that you've been scanning to a shared folder somewhere and manually importing the documents?

Is there a reason why it was set up this way?

Good morning Devin,

Most of the scan goes to QF and then pushed into Laserfiche. But some our departments that scan. There scan doesn't go into QF. And I send them over to Laserfiche. Some were going directly over to Laserfiche but after they went up to the next venison it wasn't doing it directly. At first my department was the first to use the Laserfiche and QF. I am the one that branched out to other departments. I've been the one to figure everything out with not much help. So I have researching and watching webinars as well.

So, those users who are scanning without QF don't have access to the Laserfiche Client application?

Do you have Import Agent?

They do have access only to Laserfiche client that scans. But they don't have access to QF. We do.  We use to use it at first which it automatically pushed my scans into Laserfiche. But I had it stop because when it would OCR and get the metadata a lot would be messed up. And it would take to much time to clean up in Laserfiche. So then I started to use QF to grab the metadata from the scan on tamplates.

But now that we are setting up other departments to scan as well. I only want to set them as they only put what fields they need for their templates. We are going to see if maybe QF has a automatic timer to set to grab there scan and OCR it and then push into Laserfiche without them running QFs session.  If that makes sense.  smiley

You can have them scan directly into Laserfiche to a holding location with OCR and other processing disabled. Then the users who have QF can process directly from the repository. That would save you a step. This is the option that I'd recommend.

The only way you can automate QF is to purchase QF Agent. You'll need to talk to your VAR about that.

You can also use a product called Import Agent to automatically bring in files from disk.
