Question

Sharing a created form as a template?

asked on March 11, 2019

I work for a non-profit and we are working on putting some paperwork into Forms. Once we complete this, is there an option to export my form as a template so other agencies in our system can customize it and use it from their server?

Yes, you can download your form + process in XML format from the process manage page and send that to anyone who also needs to use that process.

If they are using the same Forms server, they should be able to access the template process you've already created. They could copy that process to use as a starting point for further development.

Another way to make this process a template is by adding the process XML to C:\Program Files\Laserfiche\Laserfiche Forms\Forms\Template on the Forms server machine. When a designer goes to create a new process, this will make the template show up in the new process dialog to use as a starting point.

If the other agencies are using their own Forms servers, simply send them the template process XML and they can upload it to their servers. From there, they can do either of the two methods listed above, copy the template process or put the XML in the folder location so it can be used as a starting point.
