Cyclical Save to Repository service task error? [LFF5426-ErrorExecuteSTR]

asked on March 8, 2019 Show version history

So we've been experiencing an odd problem where during the saving to repository task an error occurs and causes our processes to become suspended. The error is:

An error occurred during the execution of the Save to Repository service task. [LFF5426-ErrorExecuteSTR]

That in of its self is not the unusual, the bit that is really odd is the frequency and consistency at which the error occurs. It happens at very regular intervals at the same minuet of every hour for weeks at a time. With the minuet gradually drifting over time, so for a few weeks the error may occur at ever 30th minuet of the hour then then may drift to the 52nd minuet of every hour for another few weeks.

We have a support request open with our Laserfiche provider that has been open for quite a while now, and we haven't been able to move forward with diagnosing the issue.

I would like to ask if anyone else has seen/or experience this odd behavior themselves and if they solved it how they went about to do so. If and when we get this resolved i'll be sure to post our solution in case anyone else runs into this issue. Thanks!

Edit: I would also like to add that we are version 10.3

I just started seeing this error yesterday.  Not on the regular intervals that you have but every time, and on just one form so far.  I have dozens of other forms that this is not happening to.  I'm searching for a solution, also!

If we arrive to a solution before you do I will be sure to keep you updated, and if you could possibly do that same it would be greatly appreciated!

Francisco,

I believe I found what was causing my error.  It was actually two things and both of them had to do with the data that was being saved in fields.

First, I have a field in this template that is rarely used.  It allows multivalues.  I needed a place to put some data just to get it to the workflow so that it could use it as part of the document name.  Apparently, the Save to Repository Service did not like this at all and I got the LFF5426-ErrorExecuteSTR error and it suspended.  Once I sifted through the error message I could tell that something was hinky with that field so I saved the same data in a different field and it worked.

The second issue was the exact same error but I was getting a message  "The parameter is out of range or too long. [9020]"  I narrowed this down to a certain field where I was storing a LF variable called {/dataset/_action}.  I was hoping it would return the action that resulted in the document taking this route, ie  Accept or Decline.  I replaced the variable with a constant and it worked as designed.  Now I just need to come up with a better way to get the last action.

This probably has nothing to do with your problem, but I would interested in seeing what the solution is.

Interesting so when you mentioned you sifted through the error message were you going through the logs? Bear with me, i'm still very new to laserfiche, but i was trying to diagnose the error through the monitor tab but didn't get very much information other than that error message. How did you go about narrowing your search to that hinky field?

No worries.  I'm just about a year into this and I learn something new every day.

Open the Error Log for the instance that is suspended.

Then click the arrow next to the word Error to expand it.  In my case it looks like this

That's actually the middle of my error message but you can see that most of the errors looked the same except for the bottom one.  That is how I figured out where my error was.  It was in the field called Approval Status.  I cleared that field out and that fixed my error.  They aren't always this straightforward but sometimes you get a good clue where to look.

I'm pretty sure that the error that shows here is the same one that will show up under events on my Laserfiche App server.

Hope that helps!

Hello Jamie,

I removed the template (in forms) for the form and it's attachments, and the suspended process resumed and saved to Laserfiche.

Drastic I know, but it got things moving.

I was able to then manually add the template with the exact same info that was in the form fields, once the form and attachments were in LF, it then processed successfully through the naming and filing Workflow.

Now to dig into which field(s) on the form was (were) giving me trouble.  I had multiple bad fields listed in the error message.

Thanks for posting.  You helped me a lot!

Christine
