We had a client who noticed this before as well. It was explained to us that Laserfiche is counting the number of Laserfiche Pages it created after generating pages on the original word document. Laserfiche doesn't always know when to create the page breaks so it just guesses and that is why the count is inaccurate. If you right-click on one of the documents and choose "Open > Pages", you can see how it separated them out if you turn on the thumbnail pane.
