[FEATURE REQUEST] Location info - from Forms Address fields to Repository

asked on February 25, 2019

We're using the new Location feature and it's generally working very well. In situations where you're passing through geolocation on mobile it's excellent.

However, if you want to pass the Address fields variable through to it when saving to the repository then it doesn't seem possible.

What we can do: is pass through a geolocation using the 'Save to Repository' task in the process designer - e.g.:

What we'd like to do: is pass through the Address fields content, as per below (this will save/publish, but will cause the Form to be suspended at the task, and won't actually save to the repository)

End result is that we want this Forms address info (full, worded address) to be in the Location info as it is when you manually associate an address in the Web Client, e.g.:

We need it to be the full address and not a geocoordinate.

Please consider this for any next feature release.

Thanks!

Thanks Jared, but not quite what we're looking for. That looks like it will return coordinates from an address using the Google Geocoding API, and then when you pass it to the new Location field it converts back to an address... but it's not accurate.

For example:

  • "200 Victoria Street West, Auckland, 1010" geocodes to "-36.8482859, 174.7556573"
  • "-36.8482859, 174.7556573" can then be passed back to the Location field
  • The Location field then displays "203 Victoria Street West, Auckland, 1010"

It's close, but not exact.

What would be better is if we could pass through the exact address typed into the Forms Address element. So that :

Becomes:

nb: We already have a Google address lookup script populating the Address element in Forms:
