make a field mandatory when not assigned to a template

Hi,

I was wondering if there was a feature in workflow or the admin console to make a field that is not part of a template mandatory when "assigning a field" in workflow?

A field is either required across the board, or required "For this template."

You can enforce a pseudo field requirement with workflow, where it refuses to process the document until the field is properly filled.
