Feature Request: Make 'Link to Task' Variable Available to Email Task

asked on February 13, 2019

In Forms 10.4 the 'Link to Task' variable was introduced to allow a process administrator to put the link for the task anywhere in the email. I would also like to allow an Email activity access to the 'Previous Link to Task'. This would allow the ability when combined with a timer event on the User Task to customize the email sent as well as provide a link to the task.

Forms 10.4.5 has added the out of box reminder feature for user task, the reminder will will send to the only one that is currently assigned with the link to the user task.

Is the main use case for this request to be able to customize email reminders with a link back to the task?

We are looking to tackle that pain point by building in reminder emails to the user task itself, as opposed to a solution where the email is triggered by a boundary event and configured in its own email service task. Building the reminder emails into the user task would give you more contextual knowledge about who the task is assigned to, the link to the user task, the due date and priority...

Do you have other user stories where the link to a specific task is actually needed in the email service task?

Jared, yes that is the use case. What you described for what I am looking for would be satisfied with what you described.

In our case, we need a reminder email to go to only one of the users assigned to the task, not all users. So instead of using a task notification, we are creating a separate email task. It would be easier if we could link to the previous user task.
